In 2006 Stu attended the Harbourside Institute of Technology for Audio Engineering and Music Production. An Audio Engineer is the professional who takes care of the technical aspects of recording. For instance the artist or producer might say something like: “I want a more brown sound” The Engineer then must figure out what that means and turn the appropriate knob or push the appropriate button to achieve a “more brown sound”. An Engineer sets up microphones, sets recording levels, runs pro tools etc… A Producer over sees all artistic directions on a project and he usually guides the artist through recording process and gives the Engineer direction.

Stu is interested in both Engineering and Producing. He has currently taken on both duties for the album that his band is working on. Stu’s skills as an Engineer make him proficient for recording whether it is for music or for sound effects for film. Stu’s capabilities include live sound set up and on site live recording. Engineering goes beyond recording though, Stu is also experienced with Mixing, not only in Stereo but also in 5.1 Surround sound. You can see some of Stu’s work with Engineering back on the main page.
